Malaysian Chinese Education has been developed since 19th century and she is currently owns the most consummate Chinese education system outside the boundary of Republic of China.The syllabus of Malaysia Chinese Education integrates the essences of Chinese traditional culture and Chinese literature study.Among of them,the most attention example is "Chinese Idiom Excerpts".Malaysia Ministry of Education had compiled"Chinese Idiom Excerpts" into the syllabus of Secondary School Chinese Education under the section of Languages Foundation in 1987 and promoted it as a new contain in the Chinese Language subject for all Malaysian government school students."Chinese Idiom Excerpts" extracts the essence contents from Chinese literatures,poems,or idioms,to deepen students' understanding on their own culture and also moral ethics.It experienced twice major reformation since it implemented,respectively,in the new Syllabus of Secondary School Chinese Education in 2000 and new Standard of Secondary School Chinese Education in 2005.As the outcome,the "Chinese Idiom Experts"will be removed from the Form 1 Chinese Language's syllabus and it will becomes past tense in the Malaysian Chinese Education very soon.Malaysian Chinese Education experienced a series of transformation and reformation during its development path.This article focuses and discusses on evolution of "Chinese Idiom Excerpt".It also summarizes the thirty years' history of "Chinese Idiom Excerpt"teaching,through interviews with current Chinese Language's teachers which provide a better picture and understanding for evolution and present situation of "Chinese Idiom Excerpt.
