This thesis emphasizes on Malaysia's both SJKC and SK standard one Chinese textbook as the research subjects.SJKC Chinese is mother-tongue teaching,while SK Chinese is consider as second language teaching.The objectives of teaching and the content of the curriculum standards of both textbooks are different,because they have different learning objects.However,as more non-Chinese pupils enroll in SJKC nowadays,teachers are facing problem regarding two types of learners in the classroom.The researcher often found that non-Chinese pupils are slow in the learning of Chinese vocabulary,besides facing problem of the insufficient in language literacy and granmar in writing works.Therefore,these problems cause a large gap with Chinese pupils in the Chinese language learning progress.As a mother-tongue education platform for Malaysian Chinese,SJKC wish to enhancing wisdom of knowledge.Meanwhile,SK has the responsibility to make Chinese education to spread more widely.The researcher believes that it is necessary to compare the differences between mother tongue language and second language teaching in Chinese education,in order to analyze the situation of non-Chinese pupils in Chinese.The researcher also believes that Malaysia's second language learning materials should be written according to the learning characteristics of non-Chinese students in order to improve their Chinese language learning.Therefore,we can see the differences between SJKC and SK Chinese language teaching by comparing two types of textbook,besides examine the learning situation of SJKC Chinese textbooks by non-Chinese pupils,and in the end sort out the appropriate suggestions for the writing of Chinese textbook.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter explains the background,significance,the objectives of the research and explanation of theoretical basics.The second chapter reveals the overall structure,the writing principles,general curriculum objectives and standard one curriculum objectives of both textbooks.Chapter three makes comparison about the content of both textbooks from five aspects,which are listening,reading,writing,fun language and basic knowledge of Chinese language,in order to summarize the suitable contents for non-Chinese pupils.It is because the differences in the content layout will bring different learning performances and achievements to non-Chinese pupils.Chapter four is about the analysis and statistics of the feedback from teachers.The subjects of the questionnaire are teachers from both SJKC and SK.Meanwhile,the content of questionnaire is about the respondents,evaluation of non-Chinese students'Chinese language learning.Lastly,the differences of both textbooks were reviewed in Chapter five,and suggestions were made for the content of Chinese teaching materials for non-Chinese pupils.In conclusion,the researcher hopes that this thesis can serves as a reference for future researcher in the related field about Chinese language teaching of non-Chinese primary school pupils.
