Nowadays,the impact of new curriculum concept and new teaching material view to make the teaching material is no longer regarded as the only curriculum resources,and the related research of teachers' secondary development of teaching materials came into being.The secondary development of teaching materials is the basic means of using textbooks creatively,it is necessary for teachers to master the strategy of " secondary development" to serve the classroom teaching.Therefore,the study of teaching material " secondary development" is of significance.This paper,within the combination of Thematic teaching and textbooks redevelopment theory,uses a theme-driven redevelopment mode of textbooks(‘TDR'mode,for short)which lays stress on redeveloping textbooks and integrating curriculum resources centered on theme.The paper systematically illustrates its specific application in English student-teachers' teaching practice through the case study of one excellent contestant's teaching sample in “The Teaching skills contest for Normal Student-teachers in Hubei Normal University”,and then puts forward the matters needing attention and the related suggestions in application of the model,finally made a summary and outlook.This paper is divided into the following five parts: The first part covers the background,purpose and significance,research ideas and methods,research status and the related literature review,including the related research at home and abroad of English textbooks redevelopment,as well as the related research at home and abroad of the thematic teaching.The second part introduces the core concept and theoretical basis of the textbook " secondary development ".A basic introduction to the core concepts of three groups,including textbooks and English textbooks,textbooks development and textbooks redevelopment,thematic teaching and theme-driven redevelopment mode of textbooks.Also provides the theoretical basis of the theme-driven redevelopment mode of English textbooks.The third part includes the third chapter and the fourth chapter,is the core content of this paper.The third chaptersystematically expounds the understanding and framework construction of the theme-driven redevelopment mode of English textbooks,and describes its source,connotation,essence,and frame construction.The fourth chapter systematically illustrates its specific application in English student teachers' teaching practice through the case study of one excellent contestant's teaching sample in the teaching skills contest.The fourth part points out considerations and suggestions of the theme-driven redevelopment mode of English textbooks.The fifth part summarizes the advantages and limitations of the model,and points out the direction of the further study of the model.The author hopes that the study of this model and the writing of this paper can provide some practical suggestions for English student-teachers in specific classroom teaching practice,and help them to use teaching materials creatively for serving the classroom teaching effectively and making a little contribution to the further study of the textbooks redevelopment.
