| In recent years,education research has made contributions to the exploration of teachers’ beliefs.Teachers’ beliefs direct teaching practice and play a significant role in English teaching development.There are numbers of studies focusing on teachers’beliefs,but most of them investigate teachers who are working in cities rather than English teachers who are working in special-post areas,which is meaningful to be taken into consideration in this field.This investigation adopts questionnaire and interview to study the special-post English teachers’ beliefs.The subjects are 40 special-post English teachers who are working in Nanning City Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.There are 10 English teachers from primary school and 30 English teachers from middle school.This study intends to explore two questions:(1)What general beliefs do special-post English teachers hold?(2)What factors have influenced the development of special-post English teachers’ beliefs?After doing some research,three findings were found in this thesis:(1)English teachers’ beliefs in this area generally tend to be open.(2)Secondly,special post English teachers hold negative beliefs in four aspects.(3)Some factors such as little chance for professional development,poor students’ performance,low salary and suspicion have influenced special-post English teachers’ beliefs and teaching processBased on the findings,some suggestions for improving special-post English teachers’ beliefs are provided.(1)Teachers should improve their self-awareness to acquire knowledge that they really need.(2)From the perspective of the school authorities,they should provide more chances for those teachers’ professional development and improving the teaching environment.(3)As for the society,more salary and respect should be given to special-post English teachers.At the end of the research,the author makes a brief summary of the present study,and some suggestions for future research are also put forward. |
