The New Chinese Curriculum Standard has repeatedly proposed that Chinese curriculum should strive to cultivate students' aesthetic awareness,aesthetic taste,aesthetic perception and aesthetic creativity.Ancient poems are considered to be a part of the good traditional Chinese culture,with eternal artistic charm.The teaching of ancient poetry plays a significant role in Chinese teaching in senior high school.Students' perception and appreciation of language is influenced by the concentration of emotion,the depth of thought and the height of philosophy in ancient poetry.However,there are still some problems in the teaching of ancient poetry,such as the backward teaching concept,the rigid teaching mode and the single teaching method.This paper is aimed to investigate the students' learning situation of the ancient poems in Tianshui No.1 Middle School.The questionnaire is employed to survey the situation.It is found that the students are lack of interests in learning poetry;most of the students have not fallen into good habits of learning ancient poetry;they are lack of the awareness of asking questions;they use single method of learning;it is in great need to improve their ability of appreciation.From the perspective of teachers,teachers do not fully know about the students;teaching key and difficult points do not achieved or solved well;teachers do not interpret the texts thoroughly,which needs to be improved;teaching utilitarian tendencies seem evident;there is not enough analysis of humanity connotation.The ancient poetry are rich in connotations and the teaching of ancient poems should not be attach less importance to.The theory and method of reading the text carefully are very consistent with the stylistic features of ancient poems.The application of close reading to ancient poems teaching is helpful to improve ancient poetry teaching in senior high school.On the basis of defining the concept and connotation of the close reading,thispaper is aimed at exploring the specific strategies on the application of text close reading to ancient poetry teaching.The paper is focused on two aspect: what to read carefully and how to read carefully.Specifically,based on the image and context,interest and sensibility,organization and style,what to read carefully is explored;how to read carefully is explored by means of reading emotionally through singing softly,analyzing the differences in the similar context,analyzing deeply through comparing,perceiving the allusions and connotation,asking questions effectively and appreciating the language gradually.Text careful-reading is of great help to the ancient poetry teaching,but the method is not everything.It is suggested that the teacher should pay more attention to designing the teaching objectives,focusing on students' cognitive and psychological characteristics as well as the whole textual features,and making classroom students-centered.It is expected that the teacher can grasp the sector and degree of close reading.
