As a significant portion of Chinese reading teaching in senior high school,the teaching of ancient Chinese poetry plays an indispensable role in improving students’core competence of Chinese subject and inheriting excellent Chinese traditional culture.However,in the actual teaching of ancient Chinese poetry in senior high school,whether teachers’ teaching or students,learning,there are some unsatisfactory.In the view of this,the author tries to introduce the method of "close reading" into the study of ancient Chinese poetry in senior high school.To a certain extent,it is supposed to alleviate the predicament of ancient Chinese poetry teaching in senior high school.On the whole,this paper consists of three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.In the preface part,the author first discusses the proposition of this thesis,the current situation of the research,the research ideas and emphases,the research methods and so on.In addition,the author defines the concepts of "ancient Chinese poetry”and"close reading" in order to facilitate the further study.The text is the main body of this paper,which is divided into three chapters.The first chapter explores the characteristics of ancient Chinese poetry and ""close reading"respectively,and then analyses the suitability of using the method of "close reading" in the teaching of ancient Chinese poetry in senior high school.Besides,the author investigates its significance for teaching,teachers and students in depth.The second chapter puts forward three principles that should be paid enough attention to according to the realistic need of "close reading" in the teaching of ancient Chinese poetry in senior high school.Firstly,the readers are expected to read carefully on the basis of the poetry text,and to interpret appropriately in moderate to grasp the sense of propriety.Secondly,the readers should attach due importance to the integrity of ancient Chinese poetry and integrate the organic contradictions in the poetry text by employing the holism concept.Thirdly,in the duration of the teaching-learning process,it is considered to be advisable to guarantee the dominant position of teachers and actively urge students to play their subjective initiative,so that the method of "close reading" can be able to bring practical and tangible teaching results.And the last chapter is about the specific operational methods of "close reading",the readers are expected to adopt the way of semantic analysis which is mostly centered on keywords,or they can attempt to restore and compare the hidden contradiction and difference within the whole poetry text to realize the purpose of seeking for the artistic secret of ancient Chinese poetry from micro and macro aspects.Based on the brief summary of the paper,the conclusion part laconically remarks the value of this application to teachers’ professional accomplishment and teaching skills as well as the promotion of students’ core competence of Chinese subject,and then further estimates its active role in inheriting the Chinese traditional culture.Finally,the author summarizes the innovation of this paper:applying the method of "close reading"to provide practical guidance for ancient Chinese poetry teaching in senior high school,and emphatically exploring its importance for students to enhance their core competence of Chinese subject and achieve personalized development.At the same time,the deficiency and the simple prospect of the paper are brought forward in the end.
