Chinese language education,as a part of global Chinese teaching,has a great difference between Chinese language teaching and teaching targeted at non-Chinese whose first language is not the Chinese,due to the particularity of Chinese group,which is specially reflected in the teaching contents.However,the situation of compiling and application of the Chinese teaching materials in Chinese-speaking communities overseas is not optimistic.The author selects the Singaporean Chinese teaching series textbook Elementary Chinese Textbook and Secondary Chinese Textbook as the research object and takes an international school in Indonesia,a country with of the largest population of Chinese descendants in the world as the example.Moreover,this paper applies the theory and mode of textbook evaluation proposed by Tom Hutchison and Alan Waters,namely,combining the objective evaluation of the textbook with the self demand of the textbook users for comparison analysis.The main text of this paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter One Introduction:mainly introduces the backgroup,causes,significance and value of this study,summarizes the related researches and establishes the study object and method of this paper in the end based on the previous researches.Chapter Two Evaluation system of Elementary Chinese Textbook and Secondary Chinese Textbook:discusses the textbook evaluation system of this study.The study objects of Singaporean Elementary Chinese Textbook and Secondary Chinese Textbook are introduced briefly,followed by the explanation of the evaluation standards and the establishment of evaluation mode,mainly including the theoretical basis and the evaluation standards of the evaluation factors of Chinese characters,phrase,grammar,genre,theme and culture,and eventually designs the evaluation project.Chapter Three Text Evaluation of Elementary Chinese Textbook and Secondary Chinese Textbook: make objective analysis and evaluation on the Chinese teaching materials in Singapore,including the evaluation of linguistic elements of the text(characters,phrase and grammar)and the types and contents of the text selected(genre,theme and Chinese culture).The fourth chapter Questionnaire survey on Chinese Textbook: by a questionnaire survey,analyzes the basic demands of the textbook users – Chinese students in the international school of Batam,Indonesia.Namely,the survey is made on the textbook feedback,including the questionnaire preparation,distribution,recovery,statistic results and data analysis.Chapter Five Summary:Evaluate the materials by conbining the objective evaluation on the textbook and the feedback of the users.
