Indonesia and China established good relationship a long time ago, especially inthe fields of economy and culture. Due to the implementation of the “IndependentForeign Policy”, Indonesia and China’s relationship grow deeper. As far asIndonesian people are concerned, The Chinese language has become one of theforeign languages that needs to learn. Teaching Chinese Language as second languagein Indonesia had already began before Indonesia country independence. Today,Indonesian government has enacted a new education policy which requires all highschools to open a foreign language teaching program.Based on the author’s own intern teaching experiences in Diponegoro HighSchool and understand about Chinese language teachers and high school studentssituation also find out some problems. Author make research to5chinese languageteachers and90high school students by making questionnare about current situation,problems and solution in studying Chinese language as a second language in highschool level. The author try to offer possible solutions.
