The rise of MOOC sets off a wave of online education around the world.More and more colleges and universities join the ranks of MOOCs construction.MOOC provides a wealth of online learning resources for everyone who wants to participate in the courses on a global scale and provides a good platform for knowledge communication and sharing.To this end,MOOC attracts a large number of people from different countries and different backgrounds to take part in MOOCs learning.During the MOOC course,learning motivation is a key factor to support the users in continuing participating in the course and completing the course efficiently.With the continuous development of MOOC,there is a low completion rate and high dropout rate in MOOC continuously and the reason is closely related to the user's learning motivation.Therefore,it is very important to explore the influencing factors of MOOC users' motivation and put forward the stimulating strategy in a targeted way.Starting with summarizing the concepts and related theories of MOOC,motivation of learning,the ARCS model,this study summarized the possible factors to affect MOOC learners' online learning motivation,combining the existing research and expert opinions.Then some learners who had MOOC experiences were interviewed.According to the result of the interview,some existing factors were amended.Finally,nine factors that affect MOOC learners' learning motivation in this study,including organization and presentation of the content,peer interaction and communication,curriculum interface design,perceived value,familiarity of the content,progressive levels of target,difficulty of learning task,evaluation and feedback,quality certification.Then the questionnaire was compiled according to the theoretical research and the influencing factors.The questionnaire was repeatedly revised by expert advice and pre-test to form a formal questionnaire.Through investigating and analyzing the data from the formal questinaire that the research object was surveyed with,the author finds out the direct factors that affect MOOC learners' learning motivation,and further analyzes the influencing degree of the factors.The study found that MOOC learners' gender,age,educational level have no significant correlation with learning motivation level.The seven factors,including organization and presentation of the content,peer interaction,familiarity of the content,difficulty of learning task,evaluation and feedback,progressive levels of target,perceived value,have a direct impact on the learning motivation.However,curriculum interface design and quality certification have no significant impact on learning motivation.Among the seven significant influencing factors,the influencing degree from the greatest to the least in turn were:organization and presentation of content,peer interaction,evaluation and feedback,progressive levels of target,difficulty of leaning task,familiarity of content,perceived value.Based on the above conclusions,I put forward some corresponding stimulating strategies from the attention,relevance,confidence and satisfaction dimension,in order to provide some suggestions for the construction of MOOC.
