In the context of today's education informatization,the construction of teachers' team is the basic guarantee of the sustainable development in education,the ability of information technology application is the necessary professional competence of information-based social teachers,however,currently the gap of informational education between rural and urban areas is quite obvious.China had come up with relevant policies and projects to improve the balanced development of compulsory education,to achieve fairness in education implementation and to share qualified educational resources.Then,what is the current status of teachers' ability in applying information technology? How to enhance their ability on that quickly? These issues are calling for our studies.According to the Information Technology Application Ability Standard of Primary and Secondary Teachers(trial)(hereinafter referred to as the Ability Standard),the study as well defines the information technology application ability of teachers as the ability of collecting and operating resources,the ability of utilizing relevant software to make teaching materials,the ability of integrating information technology and subject teaching and the ability of basic equipment maintenance.This research with the data collected from teachers of Small schools in part of Guangxi province through questionnaires and interviews,samples randomly 105 in-serving teachers as the objects separately from Nanning city,Guilin city,Wuzhou city and Baise city etc.,studying deeply on their conditions of “resource usage,” “information technology application ability,” “the ways of learning information technology,” etc.,and draws the relevant conclusions.The study found that most of the teachers are in their 31-50 years.A majority of them has an education experience more than 10 years.A large part of the teachers is serving private classes.40% of the schools are not connected to the wired network.70% of the teachers use smartphones,and more than 80% of them are using social medias like QQ or Wechat.The current situation of information technology application ability in rural areas:Speaking of the teachers' attitude toward information technology,it is a fact that most of them are accredited and affirmative,and they can apply the information education resources positively.However,the levels of their IT application ability are various.More than 30% of the teachers had never been in an IT training,whose content is mainly the introduction and usage of “the Overall Digital Education Resources in Schools project,” and the training method is mainly collective training.The strategies of improving teachers with information technology application ability:The actively learning by the teachers is the key to improving overall IT application ability.Proper training is the way for teachers in schools to enhance their IT knowledge.A strongly informatized environment in schools is the foundation to improve the teachers' IT application ability.Policy support is the guarantee of improving the IT ability of teachers in schools.
