Based on the practice of the essential-qualities-oriented education , adhering to the people-oriented and development-oriented educational concept, this paper puts forward that 'primary school calligraphy education should adopt cultural inheritance and humanistic cultivation as the ultimate goal, rather than writing skills as an unique objective' through the calligraphy education practice of Wuxue Experimental Primary School. This paper compares the actual situation of calligraphy education at home and abroad, and analyzes the writing situation of elementary and middle school students'Chinese characters since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and realizes the requirements of calligraphy education in essential-qualities-oriented education in the new period. It clarifies the research methods and research ideas of primary school calligraphy education practice. This paper explores what is humanistic cultivation and the signification of calligraphy on the humanistic cultivation. And from the perspective of cultivating students' emotional will, improving students' cognitive ability, promoting students' physical and mental harmony, cultivating students' aesthetic taste, it demonstrates the value of calligraphy education on the humanistic cultivation:calligraphy education not only cultivates students the correct aesthetic concept, noble aesthetic taste, improve students' sensibility of beauty, appreciation and creativity, but also it plays a considerable significant role by influencing students unconsciously so that enhance their national pride, cultivate their patriotic feelings and temper their strong will.Through the objective analysis of the current situation of primary school calligraphy education in China, this paper combines the process of calligraphy education practice in Wuxue Experimental Primary School, discusses the research strategy of primary school's calligraphy education practice under the concept of humanistic education from the creation of 'humanistic environment' , 'the accumulation of humanistic knowledge','the formation of humanistic quality' those aspects and so on. By the abundant scientific argumentation and objective facts, finally the article concludes that the humanistic cultivation of calligraphy education can make students develop their good writing habits, thus format high- quality writing skills. The process of calligraphy education not only change the classroom teaching methods,and coordinate students'psychological development, enrich students' cultural literacy, so that incessantly enhance the schools' cultural deposits. In the process of the implementation of essential-qualities-oriented education, we have achieved unexpected results that it promotes the general development of students and professional development of teachers.It improves the overall quality of students, and create the schools' features. And we believe that calligraphy education in the future education reform will continuously play an irreplaceable role.
