| Shu Xincheng (1893-1960), the famous educator, publisher and dictionary editor in modern China, born in Xupu County of Hunan Province. Shu had excelled in many fields,including his experiments of Dalton Plan in the field of educational experiment in the 1920s ,which with a great value of research. Shu once conducted his experiments of Dalton Plan at the Public Secondary School Of China in Shanghai and the Affiliated High School of Southeast University in Nanjing, which arousing Chinese educational enthusiasm for experiment of Dalton Plan. The purpose of Shu conducting experiments of Dalton Plan was to find a suitable way to promote the development of Chinese education. This study focus on analyzing and concluding Shu Xincheng’s experiment of Dalton Plan, with Shu’s practice of Dalton Plan as main clues and abundant historical materials as references.In the view of this, this paper is divided into three main parts:The first part mainly aims to explore the internal cause of Shu Xincheng conducting his experiments of Dalton Plan, through discussing the studying and working life of Shu,with narrative research method.The second part mainly introduces the preparation , the whole process and the final result of his experiments of Dalton Plan at the Public Secondary School Of China in Shanghai and the Affiliated High School of Southeast University in Nanjing, combines narrative and theoretical study to show Shu’s contribution to Chinese experiments of Dalton Plan, trying to give an objective and fair evaluation to his work.The third part mainly Sums up the experience and defect of Shu Xincheng’s experiments of Dalton Plan, summarizes Shu’s educational thought’s characteristics and historical value, to provide some useful experience and enlightenment for present educators in China. |
