Shu Xincheng(1893-1960) born in Liu Transition Tongmuxi Town Xupu County Hunan Province of a tenant farmer family. His primary name was Yushan, his learning name was Weizhou, his courtesy name was Xiyi, his assumed name was Dun'an, and has another assumed name called Changwulu, he had used the pen names Xuyi and Yideng. However few people know about his educational practice in his early days, in particularly his experience of advocating Dolton mechanism. He has no parallel in his time to study and advocate Dolton mechanism in such a wide and in-depth way. Fully study his practice in 1920s to advocate and practice Dolton mechanism, figure out the reason for the failure of education reform in an impartial way and transcend the limitation of Shuxincheng's understanding of the relations between national condition and character and modern education will serve as a guidance for us to pursue education reform in secondary schools. The thesis mainly covers five parts:Preface:Brief the rationality, current status, objectives, thinking and method of research.Part 1:Introduce the reasons for Shuxinchen to advocate Dolton mechanism. Analyze from the perspective of social context and his individual education and life experience to help better understand the reason.Part 2:Sort out and analyze Shuxinchen's activities to spread Dolton theory and practice the mechanismPart 3:Get the essence of Shuxinchen;s ideology of education practicePart 4:Impartially evaluate his Dolton practice mechanism and draw lessons and put forward proposals for education reform in China:learning the experiences from the failure, developing the teaching reformation experiment, changing the foreign advanced educational theory for their actual.
