Teachers' thinking and action change is an important guarantee for the smooth progress of college entrance examination reform. Under the background of the reform of the new college entrance examination, it is necessary to study the professional development of teachers.In the teaching work, the author feels the embarrassing situation of being in straitened circumstances in the face of the new era of students,new teaching methods and teaching content. In practice observation the author also found that more middle-aged teachers are helpless in the face of new media of teaching. Under the trend of the new college entrance examination policy, teachers' professional ability will face a greater test.The new college entrance examination pattern will change the importance, teaching time,teaching content and teaching evaluation of geography. The implementation of the shift system will completely break the original form of teaching arrangement and challenge the teacher's abilities of the classroom arrangement, teaching scheduling, teaching content integration. In short, the new college entrance examination will put forward new and higher requirements for the professional quality of teachers. Current researches related to the new college entrance examination, focus on the influence of the college entrance examination on teaching activities, and lack attention to the professional development of teachers.In this paper, the comparative analysis method is used to analyze the college entrance examination policy in Hubei Province, and the research results and teaching situation of the pilot provinces are used to analyze the changes of the new college entrance examination program in the entrance examination. Literature analysis method and the practice investigation method are used to analyze the necessity of the teacher's professional development research based on the change of the new college entrance examination and students' needs. Through the analysis, teachers'professional development needs to focus on enhancing the attractiveness of the subject and improvement of the teaching efficiency. The election subject's teachers need to improve professional ideas, professional knowledge, professional ability and professional image to enhance professional quality. This paper also puts forward a unique development direction for geography teachers in middle school: using methods with geography characteristics to cultivate students' geographical interests, geographical skills and geographical ideas; open geographical material to build multi-level geography courses.On the basis of the above research, this paper puts forward the strategies to promote the professional development of teacher individuals, teachers' groups, schools and teaching management department in the face of the new college entrance examination policy.In this paper, the analysis of the policy will help the middle school geography teachers in Hubei Province to understand the impact of the new college entrance examination on the teaching and examination of the subject, and to improve the urgency of teachers' self-development through the analysis of the necessity of teachers'professional development research. Through the analysis of the professional development direction of teachers, the general idea of providing professional development for middle school geography teachers will help teachers to more calmly deal with the changes brought by the new college entrance examination.
