The new curriculum reform has been carried out in the whole country and people's understanding of it is gradually deepening. The new geography curriculum reform take"process and method" as the key goal of the three-dimensional goal, reflecting the new curriculum emphasis on the students of geographical method education,emphasizing the training of students of geographical methods and geographical thought, so that students can independently analyze and solve geographical problems. Geographical method education in high school has obvious academic advantages, which will have a profound impact on students' geography learning. However,the current research on geography education is still very lacking. Therefore, it is urgent and necessary to explore the related issues of geographical method education."Compulsory one of geography" in high school mainly involved in the high school stage of the natural geographical knowledge, and the unit 2 in Compulsory one of SEP introduced three important circle in natural environment,which contains the lithosphere,atmosphere, hydrosphere, and this is the core content of the Compulsory one of SEP. The unit contains most of the natural principles and laws of natural geography. The study of the situation of geographical method and teaching strategies have a certain significance,and it can promote geography teachers' understanding of the geographical methods and help teachers learn to use strategies to enhance the ability of geographical education.This paper investigates and analyzes the status of geography education of the unit 2 in Compulsory one of SEP in three different levels of high school in Kunming, Yunnan Province. On this basis, this paper puts forward the application strategy of geographical method in high school.This paper is divided into five parts. In the first chapter,it introduces the background of the geography education ,the research significance, the research status and the research method. The second chapter defines the core concept of the geography education, and puts forward seven key geographical methods in physical geography of high school. The third chapter summarizes the geographical method of the second unit in Compulsory one from the aspects of curriculum standard and geography textbooks. The fourth chapter is based on the analysis of the status of the geographical education in the three high schools in Kunming, and analyzes the problems and causes of the geographical education. The fifth chapter, according to the analysis of the reasons in the fourth chapter, taking the contents of the unit 2 in Compulsory one of SEP as an example, puts forward the optimization strategy of high school geography educationThe basic conclusions of this paper are as follows: Firstly, the important geographical methods of natural geography in high school contains geographical observation method, geographical experiment method, geographical survey method,geographical comparison method, geographical induction method, geographical deduction method, geographical analysis and comprehensive method; Secondly, the geography of the second chapter is rich and varied, and the combination is reasonable,but this unit lack the geographical experiment method. Thirdly, the status of students'geographical study and the teaching practice of teachers in Kunming are poor, teachers and students lack knowledge of geographical methods, and the education of geographical methods is worrying. Fourthly, improving the current educational situation should be based on the promotion of teachers and Students' understanding of the value of the method of geography, building the target system of the geographical method, enriching the educational channel of geographical methods, creating the evaluation system of the construction of the geographical method and strengthening the pre-service and on-the-job training of teachers.
