Social Work Intervention In The Spiritual Needs Of The Elderly Living In The Private Caring Institutions

With the accelerated trend of aging,the issue of elderly care in China has attracted attention from all walks of life.Private caring institutions play an important role in meeting the needs of the elderly which is an important supplement to the pension service institutions.However,the existing private caring institutions pay too much attention to the material needs of the elderly,neglecting the spiritual needs of the elderly,which affect the quality of life of the elderly in their later years.Social work intervention in the mental needs of elderly people in private caring institutions can provide a new service path for improving the mental health of the elderly.Through the case study of L private caring institutions,this study provides a detailed description of spiritual needs of the elderly and the problems they are facing,and explore how social work intervention can satisfy the spiritual needs of the elderly to improve their life quality.The author takes the elderly in the caring institutions as the research object,and uses the unstructured interviews and participatory observation methods to conduct to study the "three districts" service project of L private caring institutions.Research shows that L caring institutions "three district" service analyze the needs of the elderly,and concludes their spiritual needs which include the emotional needs of the elderly,social contacts,cultural entertainment activities,knowledge four aspects of spiritual needs.On this basis,the author applies Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory,activity theory,life review theory,theory application,design of community service and group work plan,and provide services for the elderly in a professional manner.At the end of the service,the process and effect of the service activities are being evaluated,and the service is also being reflected from the perspective of social worker's role play,service effect,the localization of social work development.Discussions about how to better serve the elderly spiritual and private institutions needs to provide services are also included.The study shows that services satisfying the elderly's mental needs in privatecaring institutions need to be improved.The professional services of social work can effectively meet the mental needs of the elderly in the private caring institutions and improve the quality of life for the elderly.At the same time,caring institutions need to pay more attentions to the diverse spiritual needs of the elderly in the process of service;social workers need to enhance the comprehensive service ability and to play a good service role Furthermore,the social work service can be further improved by building a more professional team and cooperating with the local government to promote a service mode to satisfy the needs of elderly people with local cultural characteristics.
