The Study On Gender Equality Of Sweden

Gender equality is one of the most important measures of social progress and civilization. China has the largest population in the world, it is very important to promote gender equality. Our government attaches great importance to gender equality, but due to the limitation of the special national conditions, the degree of gender equality is still low currently. Sweden has become a successful example in promoting gender equality, with the level of gender equality is one of the highest in the world. Studying from the Swedish successful experience is very important for China.The research questions of this article are which policies have adopted in promoting gender equality, and how these policies worked in Sweden. The author has collected a lot of information mainly through the literature research, based on social policy perspective, instructed by the feminism and gender theory. The Swedish government regards gender mainstreaming as an important government work and takes gender awareness into all aspects of government work. The gender budgeting is the central part of the implementation of mainstreaming, which is assess the government finances in a gender perspective. Sweden has also implemented a large number of social policies to guarantee gender equality, including the provision of parental leave for both parents, encouraging women to enter the job market, paying attention on female political participation and political influence, improving female educated level and combating violence against women. The joint of the government,political parties and churches has reached a consensus on gender equality in Sweden.Sweden has built its own unique model in promoting gender equality. The author has concluded it as "four-dimensional and five-points model" in the text. This model played a very important role in promoting gender equality in Sweden.The author has summed up a few experiences to learn in our country after the analysis of the gender equality in Sweden, experiences including: improving the policy system and the efficiency of the policy implementation by changing the traditional parental leave,implementing the gender-responsive budgeting and improve the implementation; building a comprehensive protection model by completing the legislative guarantee system, sounding the supervision mechanism and the government playing the leading role in the model; at the level of the consciousness,we should changing the traditional "gender protection" stereotypes and publicizing the concept of gender equality actively. China has the special national condition, for example the largest population, the uneven development and influenced by traditional culture deeply. So it is important to achieve a perfect combination of Sweden's successful experience and China's specific national conditions, rather than directly copying.
