As a vocational college that cultivates qualified workers and technical personnel,a technician college usually adheres to its purpose of serving economic growth and social development as well as boosting employment and developing professional competencies of its students.However there has long been a disproportionate emphasis on skill development,with humanistic education being overlooked.When worsened by a relatively poor foundation,students are put in a dilemma where they found themselves proficient in professional skills yet are lagged behind in terms of intellectual accomplishment,which haunts their further development in a comprehensive and sustainable way.A well-developed vocational education should focus equally on both professional skill training and humanistic education.In light of the observation above,the present study is based on modern educational theories and instructions on vocational education by the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan.By analyzing the status quo of humanistic education in vocational colleges and problems to be addressed as well as drawing on the experiences of Chinese language teaching in compulsory education in China,the researcher conducted a comparative case study on students of different majors from Zhejiang Construction Technician College and an analysis of situational poetry teaching strategies at colleges of the same kind,with an aim of shedding some light on the impact and feasibilities of situational poetry teaching in technician colleges.Prior to commencing the study,the participants were interviewed and asked to answer the questionnaire,which allows the researcher to conduct an analysis on the statistics and the two different cases,and therefore enabling the induction and conclusion concerning the current situation of poetry learning in vocational college.Two groups of subjects were studied,in one of which situational teaching was piloted in its Chinese classes.The design of the situational teaching approach adopted was based on the major,grade,and proficiency level of the subjects.On completion of the teaching sessions,statistics were collected using the same way as before the study,which provides the researcher with practical suggestions on situational poetry teaching and how it could be tailored to vocational education,and indicates its superiority and feasibility in improving students' humanistic quality.As was found in the current study,students at technician colleges generally welcome the situational teaching approach adopted in Chinese language teaching and poetry learning.The combination of situational teaching and vocational training enables the practitioners to fully harness their advantages and tackle the problems facing humanistic education and Chinese poetry teaching,and,furthermore,improving students' humanistic quality and ensure good professional ethics by internalizing the ideas of poetry into their mind.
