High School Poetry Teaching

"China is a country of poetry." Poetry is the most distinctive character of Chinese civilization and the crystal of our nation’s culture. However, regarding the poetry teaching situation since the establishment of People’s Republic of China, the unique educational value of poetry hasn’t played it’s role due to the test-oriented education, problem of the Chinese texts and etc. The students, especially the middle school students have been less and less familiar with poetry.The importance of poetry is obvious. It’s not only the best battle ground to cultivate high school student’s idealism,give them a spiritual foundation, but also a straight way to arouse their interest and creative power towards the appreciation of beauty. The sincerity of poetry provides an uncontaminated sky for high school students in current society which only seeks for money. With the deepening educational reform, people’s views towards the objects education have changed greatly. The students won’t be confined to learn the applied technological capability, but more and more brought to seek appropriate ways to cultivate comprehensive talent. Non-intellectual factors such as humanism and the ability of beauty appreciation have been given more and more concerns. As for Chinese educational ideology, serious changes have taken place in many aspects. Chinese teaching won’t only emphasize on promoting student’s Chinese applying ability, but require to improve student’s "Chinese quality", the students are expected to learn certain extent ability of beauty appreciation, explosive ability and good quality of morality and science. Poetry teaching has been concerned by educationists and the all walls of life day by day. People have deeply realized the importance of poetry in education. New curriculum standard highly raises its attention of the poetry teaching which is revealed in the aspects such as the rearrangement of teaching material, reforming test regulation progressively and improve the methods of poetry teaching.The whole dissertation starts with analyzing the difficult situation of poetry teaching, discussing the importance of poetry teaching and others like the importance to be given to poetry in Chinese teaching in the new situation, It’s expected to arouse people’s further concern to poetry’s potential unique educational value, and guide the reform of Chinese education at present through the exploration of poetry teaching condition.
