Analysis Of Chinese Cultural’s Examination In Thailand’s Entrance Examination (PAT7.4)

Thailand’s college entrance examination is called Admission II.Chinese subject,also known as “Professional Aptitude Test 7.4”(PAT7.4),is one of the available tests students can take.Since Thailand’s Ministry of Education started to use PAT7.4 in 2009,it began to play an important role to screen talents in Chinese among Thai people.Pat7.4 not only tests students in language proficiency,but also tests them knowledge about Chinese culture.Pat7.4 pays attention to the relation between language and culture.Every exam includes 10 “culture questions”.Language and culture are inseparable.One learning a language ought to know the language’s culture as well.Studying the “culture questions” in PAT7.4 test is beneficial to the country’s education development.This thesis focuses on questions used in the “Culture knowledge” part in PAT7.4 tests during year 2010 to 2016.By means of statistical analysis,this thesis analyzes the content,similar questions and frequently-seen questions.This thesis will introduces the background,the importance and the review of the research.Then introduces culture questions in language tests,collects documents about language tests and questions about culture,and then points out the relation between them.Next the analysis about culture questions in Thailand’s PAT7.4 test.It categorizes,makes statistics and analyzes the questions.After that consists of suggestions about how to prepare before taking exams about culture in PAT7.4,the review of culture teaching in Thailand,and points out the major content.Last summarizes the thesis and makes suggestion.The author hopes this thesis can be useful in developing Chinese education in Thailand.
