Self-efficacy is individual's belief about completing a given task or behavior related to their capability,which was originated from social cognitive theory by Bandura in 1977.Self-efficacy is regarded as an important factor affecting English learners' ability in listening,reading,speaking and writing and so on.Many researches have been done concerning the self-efficacy related studies.For example,Jiang Zukang,Wang Yu thought self-efficacy is a very important factor affecting listening learning in the relationship between English learning strategies and listening;Xu Yulong studied the relationship between the self-efficacy and English reading ability of Chinese college students;Chen Jie,Guo Runyu have studied the self-efficacy influencing the spoken English.In the aspect of English writing,the researches mainly studied the college students' English writing.English has became a prominent course for all Chinese junior high school students and writing is one of the most significant skills in English learning.The self-efficacy of English writing is still limited.Consider the important role that self-efficacy plays in junior high school English writing.The thesis intends to investigate the relationship between the Chinese junior high school student's self-efficacy and their English writing.The research chooses 180 junior high school students in grade three from Xiangfen Dadeng middle school.And in the study,we adopt questionnaire,English writing test and interview as the research instruments.Through questionnaire,English test and interview,it analyzed the relationship between English writing achievement and students' self-efficacy of high-level and low-level.The questions of the this thesis are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of self-efficacy among the students' English writing in junior high school?(2)What is the relationship between students' self-efficacy and their English writing performance?(3)What factors affect the junior high school students' English writing self-efficacy?The correlation analysis indicates the following findings :(1)The results between students' self-efficacy and English writing is not satisfying and optimistic.Correspondingly,the level of English writing task self-efficacy and English writing skill self-efficacy is middle.It shows that the junior school students are not confident in their English writing(2)Students' self-efficacy is positively correlated with English writing achievement,which shows that the low senses of self-efficacy students have low-level performance,high senses of self-efficacy students have high-level performance and the moderate-level students' self-efficacy are in the middle.(3)Prior writing successes,peer comparison,teachers' feedback and affective state can influence students' English writing self-efficacy.In a word,self-efficacy and English writing ability are positively correlated.
