| Listening is the basis of language learning.However the traditional English listening teaching pays too much attention to teaching knowledge of language and makes it a single listening teaching.With the development of network,people can contact more modes of resources.People put forward new requirements of cultivation of multiliteracies,which also provides a new way for English listening teaching.In order to improve the traditional English listening teaching mode,this paper reviews the literature about multiliteracies and its cultivating mode at home and abroad and tries to apply teaching mode which is put forward by New London Group to senior high school English listening teaching.The teaching mode has an idea of "design" in cultivating the multiliteracies of students,in which there are four procedures,that is,situated practice,overt instruction,critical framing,transformed practice.This study is based on the needs of listening teaching.Four kinds of multiliteracies are chosen as the cultivating goals,that is,the ability of understanding the meaning of audio-visual and listening resources,the ability of searching and applying the listening materials,the ability of judging audio-visual and listening resources as well as the ability of communicating and cooperating.The paper mainly focuses on the following assumptions.(1)Applying the multiliteracies cultivation mode in English listening teaching of senior high school can improve students’ listening comprehension ability.(2)The teaching model is also able to cultivate the four kinds of multiliteracies of students.In this study,two parallel classes of grade two in Zhangzhou NO.1 high school were selected as the experimental subjects.This study used the following methods,such as,pretest,posttest,questionnaire and so on.The data were analyzed by statistical analysis software SPSS19.This study has got the following findings.After data analysis of the scores of students’ listening tests,it is found that students have improved their listening competence.Due to the small proportion of English listening score,there is little room for improvement in English listening performance among students who are better at learning.The improvement of English listening performance is high in the students of medium level.Besides,listeningteaching is to understand and recreate the meaning of students.This process requires students to learn how to use the available resources of the network to search,select,organize and apply them.This is not only the extension of classroom teaching mode for listening also helps extra-curricular listening study.And the questionnaire scores analysis shows the improvement of the four kinds of students’ multiliteracies mentioned above.It is found that the application of multiliteracies cultivating mode to the listening class is beneficial for improving students’ multiliteracies.In the experimental class,students’ ability of communicating and cooperating was improved.And their abilities of understanding,choosing,judging and using multimodal resources were improved too in certain degree.Under the guidance of the writer,students began to improve a little the ability of understanding the meaning of audio-visual and listening resources and the ability of judging audio-visual and listening resources,because these two kinds of abilities needed long time to train and develop.It is hoped that the research results will make sense for the majority of teachers to improve teaching methods of listening,and make them pay attention to the multimodal resources development,and provide some theoretical and practical references for the development of students’ multiliteracies. |
