In the era of new media in the 21 st century,electronic technology and social culture develop rapidly.People achieve information not just through traditional printed text,but through diversified approaches such as linguistic,hearing,gesture,vision,and space,which makes the expressions of meaning tend to be multiple.Under the background of globalization,human society has developed to the era of diversified information,and the study of language culture is becoming more and more multimodal.With the development of globalization,the concept of "multiliteracies" has come into being.As a universal language in the world,English is closely related to culture.However,as for only using the traditional single mode to teach students festival culture knowledge,it is not good for the learners to rebuild and sublime the multiple cognition in western custom,values,ways of thinking,and emotion and so on in cultural teaching.Therefore,"multiliteracies" have become important topics in the academic and educational circles.This article explores three questions:(1),how to use multiliteracies to teach in experiential culture teaching?(2),under the teaching mode of multiliteracies,how it has changed in the expression of meaning for students?(3),what kinds of students’ abilities are improved in multiliteracies teaching,which involves the linguistic mode,visual mode,auditory mode,gesture mode,space mode etc.for students? It proposes an effective means of cultural teaching in primary school English from the perspective of multiliteracies,and then it analyzes the method and operation process of multiliteracies.Based on action research as the basic method,the study combines interviews,classroom observations,case studies,questionnaires,etc.,and chooses W class in J primary school in Ningbo,Zhejiang province as the research object.After continuous imagining,implementing,modifying,and reflection about the research problem,the author makes some efforts to improve the current situation of the festival culture teaching.Through three rounds of action research,the research problems are constantly planned,implemented,modified,and reflected;respectively training students’ multiliteracies in different stages.Secondly,it makes certain efforts to improve the present situation of primary school English culture teaching by doing specific research in the class.At last,the author analysis the validity through the questionnaire.The research shows that the cultural teaching based on the multiliteracies can help to improve the students’ life experience,develop the formation of students’ multiple evaluation methods.And it’s beneficial for the students’ ability of multiliteracies.Research project operation formed teaching model which consists of four parts: students’ discriminating literacy,teachers’ oriented literacy,students’ generative literacy,and extracurricular multiple literacy.
