Nowadays in highly-developed modern society, the multimedia information technology and Internet has exerted great influence on our daily life. Moreover, it has penetrated into every aspect of education. The integration of modern multimedia and information technology with subject education is overwhelming and has provided impetus for education reform.According to The Basic Education Curriculum Reform (trial implementation),there is an explicit demand for teaching: the wide application of information technology in teaching process should be vigorously made, in order to accelerate the integration of information technology with every subject curriculum. As far as English language teaching is concerned, in the new National English Curriculum Standards, it is pointed out that the modern educational technology should be used to improve English learning effects, to help solve relevant problems and make it a powerful tool for students to learn English. Meanwhile, the National English Curriculum Standards has also emphasized the necessity for taking advantage of modern technology to change students’ learning habits, improve learning effects and make students be willing to carry out practical and exploratory English activities. Therefore, in English classes of senior high school, we find it urgent to carry multimedia and information technology forward greatly, better the class teaching structure, cultivate students’ various senses, increase English class teaching efficiency as well as information accomplishment of teachers’ and students’.Therefore, this article is attempt to explore through an individual case on the possibility of the integration of information technology and English teaching based on survey and comparison between the real situations and the expected ones. Then by analyzing the current situation as well as the existing problems, this article is going to seek the solutions to the question of how to integrate senior high school English teaching with information and multimedia technology. In addition, it will also suggest the strategies for how to introduce information technology into senior high school English teaching efficiently, and to take advantage of information technology to improve senior high school English teaching quality and effect.It is demonstrated in this paper that the improvement in the senior high school English class by means of the multimedia and network technology can be affected in designing and carrying out colorful teaching activities, thus helping transfer abstract and boring teaching contents into specific, vivid and dynamic contents, enlarging class capacity, arouse students’ learning interests and enthusiasm, consolidating and improving students’ language using abilities. It is also significant for improving students’ and teachers’information qualities.Based on senior high school English teaching of Shexian Senior High School in Huangshan, Anhui Province, this paper adopts documentation and questionnaire research methods,including attending lectures to observe the process on the scene and interviewing teachers as well as students so as to carry out researches on the advantages and disadvantages of the application of the principle of combining multimedia information technology and practice from various aspects and levels, and then offers practical suggestions.In conclusion, the application of multimedia and information technology could bring vitality and life into high school English teaching, and help improve students’ scores to some degree. However, if depending too much on multimedia and information technology while ignoring effective teaching and learning methods, even deserting some excellent teaching modes from traditional class,the final results would be at opposite poles.
