Region cognitive ability is the precondition and basic requirements for high school students to study regional geography,it is the outstanding reflection of middle school students' geography learning ability.It has great significance to improve students'region cognitive ability.It can cultivate students' core competence, improve the efficiency of geography learning and improve the quality of geography teaching.This research through researching literature,surveying questionnaire,observing classroom and analysis case to explore.Based on the evaluation model of regional cognitive ability,this paper studies the current situation and problems of high school students' regional cognitive ability.This paper also puts forward the strategy of improving students' regional cognitive ability.Firstly,according to the content of regional geography,the structure of high school students' regional cognitive ability is analyzed into five types:regional locating ability,regional information processing ability,regional comparing ability,regional contacting ability and regional planning ability.Based on these, this paper build the evaluation model of high school students'regional cognitive ability.Based on this evaluation model,this paper studies the current development of high school students' regional cognitive ability.The conclusions are summarized below:High school students' regional positioning ability is generally weak.It is different at ability and improve space between different levels of school students;What's more,high school students are difficult to get the regional geographic information into their own needs, It is particularly evident when they do the question;Finally, high school students are only good at the more common regional geographical elements, it is difficult to systematically regional comparison.Based on the above research,This paper puts forward the new way of promoting region cognition ability.Firstly,this study argues that the course link is the key of region cognition ability formation.Junior high school should help students to successfully build the "brain map" and form the most basic concept of space and spatial thinking ability;High school should help students to establish a bridge between old and new knowledge, and develop appropriate school-based curriculum or geographical activities, while stimulating students interest in learning, taking into account the junior high school geography and high school geo graphy. Secondly ,the teaching methods,which geography teachers used in classroom,are basic approach to improve region cognitive ability.You can use psychological maps to train space imagination, it can develop regional positioning ability;You can teach students how to read the map ,it can exercise regional information processing ability;You can combined with life case to strengthen the regional comparison and ability;You can encourage students to explore by themselves, and try the regional planning ability.The scale constructed in this paper is suitable for teachers and students.It is helpful for teachers and students to test and feedback the problem of regional geography classroom and promote the efficient development of geography classroom.
