In recent years,the employment situation is very grim because of the surplus human resource which caused by the college expansion plan and the sluggish economy.On the other hand,the fashion industrial structure is upgrading while high-level speeialized personnel will be one of the most important factors that influence the development of the industry,both of which present the unprecedented challenges to the fashion colleges that bear the teaching mission.Meanwhile,national higher education policy also requires teaching and industry and market demands combined closely.Leading by the three factors above,through the investigation and analysis on employment status of graduates major in fashion design and engineering of Donghua University and a few in-depth interviews to fashion companies on their requirements for talents,there are some guidance effects on improvement points of graduates' capacity and teaching modes of colleges.The main contents of this study are divided into three parts,one from the curriculum sets of the colleges;second from the graduates' employment trends;third from the enterprise(market)manpower needs.Details are as follows:Curriculum sets.First,the history and overview of fashion higher education in the domestic and overseas are combed while the broad and narrow meanings of major of fashion design and engineering are confirmed and its teaching characteristics and course positioning are summarized by accessing to literature.Second,the similarities and differences are compared between domestic and foreign in higher fashion education by investigating the major specialization and curriculum sets of 4 international renowned colleges and 9 mainland fashion institutions,to learn the international experience in education and analysis the deficiency of Donghua University.Finally,through a questionnaire survey of graduates from the perspective of personal development,each course is be scored and teaching evaluation is made about the talents clarity,depth and breadth of curriculum,matching rationality of courses in each category and so on.Employment trends.Firstly,employment situations of all the graduates in 2013 of Donghua University is introduced,meanwhile recent three years employment tendency of fashion design and engineering is compared with the other majors of fashion institute and the other national key subjects of Donghua University,the employment situation of fashion design and engineering of Donghua University in nearly three years is analyzed from the proportion of staying in Shanghai,original salary,continuing to study these three aspects.Secondly,fashion design and engineering graduates are divided into five levels including 84?89 grade,90?94 grade,95?99 grade,00?04 grade,and 05?09 grade.These levels are stratified sampled,of the change rules along time of graduates's belonging industry,type of company,property of corporation,position,education background,job hopping frequency is analyzed.Finally,detailed of 05?09 grade graduates' employment situation are analyzed through a questionnaire survey in order to define the changing of employment trends of apparel industry in recent five years.Enterprise manpower demands.Employing requirements of fashion companies are generalized and the analysis of SWOT on career development of Donghua graduates is made by the meanings of in-depth interview to human resource of 5 representative well-known enterprises(foreign,state-owned enterprise and private enterprise).The above research has a certain reference value for curriculum reform of fashion design and engineering in Donghua University.
