Research On Compulsory Education In Shanxi Province (1918-1937)

With the reform of modern education,Shanxi Province has reformed its education,In particular,a series of measures and policies have been adopted for compulsory education.During the reign of Yan Xishan,the stable social order provided a unique premise for compulsory education.Through the "village government construction",compulsory education was developed with the support of the government and formed a compulsory education with local characteristics.Since the beginning of 1918,the effectiveness of compulsory education in Shanxi Province,get the government's encouragement,has also been highly praised by educators,Shanxi Province was known as the "model province".For the study of Shanxi province education from the beginning of 1918 to the Anti-Japanese War,this study mainly focused on Yan Xishan's thought of compulsory education,village construction,funds and so on.This paper focuses on the development stage of compulsory education in Shanxi Province during 1918-1937,to explore the reason why Shanxi's compulsory education was able to achieve remarkable results.Mainly from four aspects to study:The first part examines the background of the development of compulsory education in Shanxi Province from 1918 to 1937,mainly including two aspects,one is social order and the other is the grassroots administrative power.Shanxi Province is in a relatively moderate political order,Yan Xishan external hanging "security of the people" banner,maintained neutrality in the warlords,committed to the village government construction,the implementation of civil government programs,the province established a basic administrative network,popularization of compulsory education under the impetus of basic administrative power.In the second part,according to the development of national schools atdifferent times and their characteristics,the development of compulsory education in 1918-1937 is divided into three stages.Namely,the period of compulsory education construction aiming at enlarging the scale of schools,the development of compulsory education in order to improve the school quality and affected by the situation under the compulsory education period of pause and recovery.The third part mainly studies the concrete process of the development of compulsory education in Shanxi from 1918 to 1937.In the process of popularizing the compulsory education,the cultivation and management of the teachers,the raising and using educational funds,and the administrative supervision Which is the key to the success or failure of compulsory education,which embodies the operation mechanism of compulsory education in Shanxi province.The fourth part mainly expounds the enlightenment of compulsory education in Shanxi province from 1918 to 1937 on the development and reform of our education.Shanxi Province,compulsory education has been able to proceed smoothly and in the country in a leading position,depending on the stability of the social order,with the help of grassroots administrative power,to broaden the way of teacher training,in strict education administrative supervision system,formed a multi-channel to raise the mode of compulsory education funds.
