As an important part of cultivating contemporary college students, ideological and political theory course in universities undertakes a significant task of training and shaping their values, which is responsible for the maintenance of the ideological security.With the rising of the information society, the course has realized the transforming of teaching means, teaching tools and teaching methods. As a result, the online teaching is becoming a kind of new teaching model. Therefore, it is significant for improving its effectiveness to analyze the current status of the online teaching of ideological and political theory course, probe into the causes, and further put forward the corresponding strategies.Under the guidance of the Practical Theory of the Marxism, the Need Theory of the Marxism and the Constructivism Learning Theory, combining with the Ideological Political Education, the Educational Technology, Pedagogy and Communication, the thesis probes into the course. The thesis is established on how to analyze and define the concepts and features of the online teaching and the online teaching of ideological and political theory course in universities, and then explores the theoretical foundation of online teaching.By analyzing the survey data, the author finds that the teachers and students of ideological and political theory course relatively agree to carry out the online teaching.The reason is that the rich teaching resources and the integrative platform are able to meet the individual needs of students and the interaction between teachers and students, which are the outstanding advantages of the online teaching of ideological and political theory course. However, there are also problems existing, such as the common sense of the teachers and students to the online teaching, the further optimization of teaching contents,the excessive virtualization of online platform, the non-ideal teaching effect, the teaching environment that needs to be improved and the not-so-flexible assessment and evaluation mechanism. Therefore, the thesis analyzes the reasons from the teachers, the teaching resources, the teaching environment as well as the operational mechanism to explore the strategy of optimizing the online teaching of ideological and political theory course. The author hopes to intensify the construction of teachers and teaching resources, optimize the teaching environment, establish a scientific mechanism, gather the power of variousaspects and promote the sustainable development of online teaching of ideological and political theory course in universities.
