An Anthropological Study Of Polyandry In Tewo Rural Area

Marriage and family forms are important traditions of cultural anthropology research topics that catch the attentions of the scholars at home and abroad for a long time.At present,in the world there are various marriage forms,the most common one is monogamous marriage,followed by polygamous marriages,whereas polyandry marriage is less.Tibetans are also mainly monogamous marriage and family form,meanwhile polyandry and polyandry accidental marriage and family exist as the two other forms of marriage.This thesis studies on the Tibetan polyandry marriage form.Relung village of Jangtsa county is chosen to be the field work location as a topical polyandry marriage exists there.What's more,the writer is familiar with Tewo rural area culture and way of life,which provides an advantage to do the research.In this research,the writer combined Goldstein polyandry marriage of social-economic theory and Levine's brother's a wife of polyandry marriage culture theory as well as researches undertaken by other scholars to conduct a comprehensive combing,using the theory of cultural anthropology and the field investigation method,through on-the-spot investigation,participant observation,interviews and other forms of overlapping polyandry marriage and family ministry of agriculture form system,in-depth investigation.The author believes to undertake this research of polygamous marriage of Relung village will help to extend the scope and content of Tibetan culture research in Tewo rural area.The full text is divided into two parts: preface and the body.Introduction has three aspects: comprehensive interpretation of this thesis,the selected topic's background and significance and an detailed analysis of the related researches undertaken at home and abroad,and the research conditions,as well as research methods utilized in this research.The body is divided into four chapters: the first chapter focuses on introducing the natural environment of Tewo rural area;the second chapter is mainly an analysis of marriage and family in Relung village;the third chapter describes the attitude of the people in the village towards polyandry marriage;the fourth chapter is a detailed discussion on the relationship of the brothers in the polyandry marriage in Tewo rural area.Through the four chapters discussion,the writer provides a comprehensive analysisof polyandry marriage and family form in Tewo rural area and finally the writer brings up his conclusion.
