| With the deepening of the basic education curriculum reform,teachers must constantly improve their professional quality.It is the crucial task for the primary and secondary schools to promote the professional development of teachers in China.As a professional grassroots organization of the teaching and research for the teachers,the English Teaching and Research Group(ETRG)is the main platform of interaction,growth,and development for English teachers.So the operation of the ETRG is highly concerned by many educational authorities,schools,and English education researchers.The balanced development of ethnic education is still a problem to be urgently solved,and the key to solve this problem is the training of high-quality teachers in Xinjiang.Due to restrictions of various objective conditions,there are some problems in the operation of the ETRG in Xinjiang ethnic middle school,causing its failure to play its function.How to give full play to the functions of the ETRG and promote the professional development of English teachers has become an urgent problem to be solved.In recent years,the theory of ecology has penetrated into various fields.It can explain the complex problems comprehensively by studying the relationship between the subject and the environment.It highlights the value orientation of equality,pluralism,dialogue,symbiosis,and the way of thinking of overall connection and dynamic balance,providing a new perspective for probing into the efficient operation of ETRG.So different from the way of traditional research,regarding Shihezi ethnic A middle school in Xinjiang as a case,the study has investigated the current operation status of A school with the method of observation,questionnaire and interview,and analyzed its reasons from ecological perspective.Firstly,the study analyzes the rationality which regards the ETRG of A school as a ecological system;then the study presents its current operation status from three aspects,including its ecological environment(natural environment,social environment,the spirit of the environment),ecological subject(staff structure)and ecological factors(teaching and research activities);the study analyzes the existing problems in the process of operation of the ETRG of A school,and tries to find reasons from ecological perspective.Lastly,the study proposes the optimization strategies of operating ETRG of A school from ecological perspective.It has been found: there are some problems in the process of operation of the ETRG.(1)The ecological environment problems of the ETRG are obvious: inadequacy of resources,shortage of social environment;competitive relationship between the group members.(2)The structure of staff is unreasonable: the aging trend is obvious;the overall educational background is not high;the proportion of professional titles is not balanced.(3)The efficiency of ecological factors is not high: the value orientation of the ETRG is utilitarian;the management of the ETRG is administrative;the activities of the ETRG are formalization.A comprehensive analysis with the ecological principle uncovers that the problems are due to the chaos of ecological niche,the damage of the ecological link and the incompetence of the normal operating of ecological laws.For this reason,it is proposed the optimization suggestions from the ecological perspective: optimizing the ecosystem environment of the ETRG to promote sustainable operation;optimizing the ecological subject of the ETRG to realize the overall coordinated development;optimizing the ecological factors of the ETRG to realize the benign interaction between the ecological subject and the ecological environment. |
