Research On The Professional Development Approach Of Private College Counselors

Private higher education is an important part of our country's higher education enterprise development.Private colleges and universities undertake the important task of training builders and successors for socialism modernization.College counselors are the organizers,practitioners and mentors of the work of ideological and political education and management.Improving private colleges counselors professional ability,professional quality and their professional development,is helpful to promote the stability and development of the private college counselor team,to strengthen the pertinence and effectiveness of college students' ideological and political work,to improve school-running level and effect of private colleges and universities.Following analysis ideas of from the particular to the general,I discuss career development problems of private college counselors and analyze factors affecting the career development of private college counselors in the case of Minnan University of Science and Technology through deep interviews and collection of relevant information.In this study,the methods of literature study,comparative study,case study and individual interviews are used.On the basis of advanced experience of counselors' career development,I also propose strategic ways of career development of counselors in private college from four perspectives of the government,society,private colleges and counselors.The current problems existing in the private college counselor professional development are: effective institutional safeguards are lacked,counselors social identity are low,private colleges' management effectiveness needs to be improved,and counselors are not so professional.The ways of realizing private college counselor professional development: firstly,by improving the private college counselors' professional development policy,the government set up the major of college counselors and college counselors' occupational qualification standards to improve institutional safeguards;Secondly,the permissive atmosphere of career development should be created in the society,private colleges and universities should be viewed equally and the counselor's social professional identity should be improved;Thirdly,private colleges and universities should clarify the counselors' role,expand the counselors' career development space and promote their professional sense of belonging;Finally,counselors should strengthen their sense of career planning,improve professional competence and cultivating professional quality to realize their professional development.Therefore,the government,the society,private colleges and universities and counselors should work together and build new professional development institution of private college counselors to realize private college counselors' professional development.
