China's Ministry of Education promulgated the "Compulsory Education English Curriculum" in 2011,clearly putting forward that the stage of compulsory education in English courses should have both instrumental and human nature.Therefore,we should not only concern about the instrumental face,but also emphasize more on the embodiment of humanities in the classroom teaching.That is to say we should not only cultivate students' basic English literacy and develop students' thinking,but also improve students' comprehensive humanistic accomplishment.In recent years,domestic and foreign research has proved that topic teaching can help to create a real scenario,to stimulate students' interest in learning,to cultivate students' basic skills of English,and to develop students' thinking quality.The picture book plays an important role for improving students' reading ability and enhancing the comprehensive humanistic understandings for them.Therefore,I carried out the teaching research on PEP primary school English teaching by the support of picture book.I aimed at studying what should be the main topics for PEP teaching,how to implement PEP primary school English topic teaching based on the support of picture book,and how to analyze the effect of it.I conducted the study by combining the activities in school class,literature research,classroom observation,case study and other methods.By comprehensive collection of relevant literatures at home and abroad,I explain the implementation of topic teaching under the support of picture book theoretically on the basis of learning and analysis.Through the analysis of the topics for the fourth book of PEP,taking teaching practice as a basis,recording carefully the classroom teaching of picture books in different classes,different hours and different aspects,I gradually explored the basic model of topic teaching under the support of the picture book.Now the activities are summarized as follows:1.Combing and analysis the topics under a total of 46 units of the third to sixth volume of PEP primary English book,the topics are rich in content,covering the My...series and other 14 main topics.Language knowledge is spiral of rising,and there is a certain degree of reproducibility to focus on the links horizontally and vertically.2.On the basis of the designing unit topic teaching,the author tries to explore the teaching mode of the topic teaching in different class,different time and different aspects by practicing the topic teaching under the support of the picture book.3.The topic teaching under the support of picture book provides the students with more opportunities to practice language,and lay the foundation to form a comprehensive pragmatic ability.In the course of practice,we pay attention to students' experience of topic,the infiltration of students' cross-cultural knowledge and the influence on their emotion.It takes a great significance to the improvement of students' reading ability.4.The positive evaluation from three different levels of students,parents and teachers shows that this study is effective.
