The competition in the twenty-first Century is the competition of comprehensive national strength,the competition of high technology,but above all,the competition of intellectuals.Education reforms take place in all countries in the world.They expect to cultivate more and more intellectuals with diversified skills so as to meet the needs of various fields.In 2010,The Outline of National Medium-and-Long Term Intellectual Development Plan(2010-2020)was issued,which requires that the goal for intellectual development is to cultivate billions of talents with diversified skills,tens of millions of talents with specialized skills and large quantities of talents with innovative abilities.Basic education is the fundamental foundation for intellectual development,therefore,how to meet the demand of it under new circumstances? The Outline(2010-2020)suggests that the reform of education system should be deepened and puts forward the mode for innovative talent development.The third Plenary Session of the 18 th CPC Central Committee Conference further stressed the comprehensive reform in the education field,also aiming to better meet the need of intellectual development under this new background.Senior High School is a critical stage for students to form their personalities and individualities.For the moment,under the circumstance of examination-oriented education,senior high schools have all become the same,each with no characteristics at all.In these schools,students get further education by passing various examinations,because of which the development of students’ individuality,practical and innovative abilities have been thoroughly ignored.For the purpose of cultivating intellectuals with diversified skills and creating a situation where such talents emerge continuously,senior high schools must reform the current education mode and divide students into different types and levels.This paper takes Chongqing X High School as an example.On the basis of further implementing its education philosophy--Pursuing humanistic perfection,and scientific truth,so that teachers and students can create a wonderful life together and actively promoting its feature--Life Education,combined with the demand of intellectual development,teacher-and-student development and school development,Study on Cultivating Mode of ‘4+3’in Senior High School under the Background of Education Comprehensive Reform is put forward in this paper.Firstly,based on the analysis of some fundamental concepts,such as the comprehensive reform of education,the cultivating mode of ‘4+3’,the methods of literature research,survey research and action research have been used.They are adopted in this paper to analyze the background,policies,theories and practicality,all of which are crucial to the implementation of ‘4+3’ cultivating mode in senior high school.In the meantime,by taking Chongqing X High School as an example,this paper also summarizes some major achievements and experiences from the carrying out of ‘4+3’,and reflected on its shortcomings and problems.Under the guidance of them,specific solutions have been proposed in five aspects: student,teacher,school,society and nation.The design and implementation of ‘4+3’ is based on three theories,that is,the theory of talent classification,the educational principle--multiple intelligence theory and constructivism theory,the theory of educational law--meeting the needs of individual development and promoting all-round development of the right to education.Meanwhile,the cultivating mode takes up a scientific attitude toward intellectual development,insists on the educational view of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and attaches great importance to the development of student’s individuality.In order to develop a education that not only satisfies all the people but also is responsible for the nation,it promotes the reform in the school education and intellectual cultivating mode,thus bringing about changes in aspects like school curriculum goals,teaching contents,teaching activities and so on.With nurturing its students according to their aptitude and ability level,X high school not only analyzes and implements the requirements for national talent development from its own perspective but also makes changes in the national curriculum so as to meet it own needs and meanwhile,innovates its cultivating mode—‘4+3’.Furthermore,in X high school,a new curriculum system has been set up,guidance for students’ career planning is being provided,Level-Based Teaching is under exploration and a new assessment way,multi-evaluation has come into effect.This cultivating mode can best meet the needs of different students,and provide more space and choices for their growth and development.In the mean time,it has made a positive exploration on how to cultivate diverse talents for the nation and has achieved good results in practice.However,there still exist some problems and the following are just some examples.Firstly,students do not have a clear idea about career planning.Secondly,students’ needs cannot be fully satisfied.Thirdly,it is difficult to change teachers attitudes.Fourthly,the design and implementation of the school curriculum require further improvement.Then,the public are concerned and policy support is not certain.Based on these,the paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions from five aspects: the students,the teachers,the school,the society and the country.
