| Chinese education in Southeast Asian has a long history and a good foundation, but there are still very difficult problems, one of the prominent problem is the school funding and the treatment of Chinese teachers. However, the current research on Chinese schools funding and the treatment of Chinese teachers are very poor. This study takes the overseas Chinese schools and Chinese teachers of six ASEAN countries as the research object, and takes the literature analysis, questionnaire survey, borrowing and reading the field survey notes,semi-structured interview as the main research methods, focusing on the funds of the overseas Chinese schools and the treatment of Chinese teachers.Through the investigation of the main sources of funds for running schools of overseas Chinese schools, the degree of insufficient funds and the salary of Chinese teachers,it is found that the majority of the ASEAN Chinese schools are facing the problem of insufficient funds and bad treatment of Chinese teachers.Hardware facilities of Chinese schools are poor, modern teaching equipment is incomplete, thus lead to the loss of students, some of the smaller school gradually collapse. The payment of Chinese teachers is not high, the welfare is poor, thus lead to a shortage and serious aging problem of Chinese teachers. Some of the Chinese teachers are engaged in other high-paying jobs due to their high salary, which leads to the instability of the Chinese faculty and the loss of high-quality Chinese talent. This has seriously hindered the development of Chinese teachers’ professionalism and professionalism. The reasons for the the lack of funds for Chinese schools and poor treatment of Chinese teachers were mainly in the Chinese education policy of the host country;school management;school non-profit ideas and teachers devote the concept of devotion.Accordingly,we recommend:ASEAN countries should actively promote the integration of Chinese education and mainstream society.Chinese school itself needs to establish a good financing mechanism, and mobilize the strength of theChinese to establish a local and national foundation.Chinese schools should gradually get rid of "non-profit" managing mode, and establish a professional financial management system. The Chinese government and the foundation can had better solve the financial problem of Chinese school through direct investment.ASEAN countries should also establish a thorough evaluation system and a sound Chinese teacher welfare system to attract more people engaged in Chinese teaching work.Only then can we promote the long-term and stable development of Chinese education in ASEAN countries. |
