The entrepreneurial discipline,as a new type of university basic academic organization,features problem-oriented study,positive interaction with governmental enterprise and multidisciplinary study.It offers new approaches to solve problems in Chinese higher educational discipline such as inefficiency of knowledge production,inferior position of competition and monotony and ossification of organizational structure,which naturally become a fresh central issue in higher education research.Primarily,this study discusses the nature,characteristics,organization and function of the entrepreneurial discipline.Secondly,on the basis of the theory of entrepreneurial discipline,it proposes five organizational characteristics of the entrepreneurial discipline.Then,by analyzing the typical entrepreneurial discipline,the rationality and correctness of the according theory are examined.Ultimately,in consideration of the development of Chinese universities,this study proposes several countermeasures.This study consists of four parts:In the first section,this study makes a probe into the theory of entrepreneurial disciplines.Based on discussion of the nature,characteristics,organization and function of the entrepreneurial discipline,this study holds the viewpoint that the entrepreneurial discipline is an innovative university basic academic organization under the background of knowledge economy,which consist of education,study,and entrepreneuring,aiming at transmitting,innovating and transforming of knowledge.The second part explores the organizational characteristics of entrepreneurial disciplines.This paper argues that the organizational characteristics of entrepreneurial disciplines are as follows: the development strategy of the development of attracting resources,the cross-disciplinary projects that value demands,the diversely structured echelon of disciplines,the discipline culture that advocates independent adventure and the academic platform that integrates collaborative innovation of production,education and research.The third part analyses the entrepreneurial disciplines cases.This study selected three typical cases of the engineering disciplines from the University of Worick,the chemistry department of the MIT and the electronics discipline of Stanford University.On account of the analysis of the rise,development background,development approaches and organizational characteristics of these disciplines,this study verifies the rationality and correctness of entrepreneurial discipline theory.The last part of this study puts forward countermeasures for discipline's construction in Chinese higher education.Taking Universities in Ningbo as examples,this study analyzes the application of entrepreneurial discipline theory in the discipline construction in our country.Based on the experience of the construction of entrepreneurial discipline,focusing on the development dilemma faced by Chinese subject at present stage,this paper puts forward countermeasures are as follows: carrying out disciplines strategy of making best use of the advantages and gathering resources,improving the discipline function of technically shift and academically entrepreneuring,building the disciplinary mechanism of collaborating based on industry,and cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit of competition as well as independence.
