An Applied Research On Applying Suggestopedia To English Reading Teaching In Seconday Vocational School

Vocational education is an important component of China’s education.Our country has been attaching increasing importance to the teaching reform of secondary vocational school.Thus the English teaching reform in secondary vocational school has entered a critical phase.But for many objective reasons,the students’ learning foundation is very weak,especially English;it is a head-scratching subject for the students.So as an English teacher in secondary vocational school,what I’m most concerned about is how to improve the students’ English,especially reading ability.We can test students’ English level from many aspects,such as from listening and speaking ability,reading ability,writing ability,etc.While reading ability is a comprehensive ability,but in many secondary vocational schools,there are still many problems in teaching of reading.The way of English reading teaching is traditional and backward,and the students’ situation of English reading is not optimistic.So it is urgent to solve the problem of how to improve students’ reading ability.Educators and in-service teachers in China are groping for a method that is appropriate for the students in secondary vocational school and accords with the idea of education reform.Suggestopedia is appropriate for the idea at present without doubt.Suggestopedia is pioneered by George Lozanov.This method can give learners full play to the brain joyfully and then grasp language effectively.So when I was doing the experiment,I took full account of the influence of external environment factors on students’ sub consciousness.Thus I carefully thought about every aspect that may affect the experiment,such as decoration of classroom,lights,music,sound equipment,teaching aids,etc.During the experiment,I applied Suggestopedia into secondary vocational school English reading teaching following the three principles and six kinds of technologyAt the end,after one year’s experiment,I saw the joyful results of applying Suggestopedia into English reading.
