With the 2012 new primary school English curriculum standard’s(revision) was promulgated in the primary English teaching field, English teaching has entered a new stage.The new curriculum standard emphasizes that teacher should pay much attention to each student’s emotions, stimulate their interest, cultivate students’ learning enthusiasm and confidence in English learning. How to help students grasp English noun fast and effectively has become an important task for primary school English teachers.Suggestopedia, originated by Bulgaria psychiatry psychologist George Lozanov, is a method of language teaching. He advocated body relax, music playing and so on to lead students in a happy learning atmosphere, so that the function of the right brain was activated which changes the traditional way of using the left brain only. It can maximize the potential of learning and efficiently master English. Suggestopedia is a kind of teaching way, not only cognition but also emotion, not only consciousness but also unconsciousness.In this study Suggestopedia is applied in English noun teaching in primary school. This study starts from English noun teaching, introduces Suggestopedia from the definition,characteristics, psychological and physiological basis, development broad and at home, and accessible analysis in English noun teaching in primary school. Empirical research was carried out in a class of fifth-grade. The principles of Suggestopedia were adhered to in the noun teaching of test group, and as well reform some approaches practically. Questionnaires,pre-test and post-test were made as well in another class which the traditional teaching method was still adopted. It shows that Suggestopedia makes some success on English noun acquisition, not only improves the students’ noun level, but also increases their interest,motivation and self-confidence in English learning, even enhances the harmony of teachers and students.In this paper, the experimental result is summarized and analyzed to gain some experience and inspiration, some thoughts and suggestions is also put forward to as well.
