With the continuous advancement of the curriculum reform of national basic education,the importance to the comprehensive language application ability in English teaching is increasing.Meanwhile,with the rapid development of network education and the requirement of 'Reducing burden' in basic education,we must find a new kind of homework in English subject to optimize its content and efficiency as well as to promote the students' interest in this subject.In order to prove the hypothesis which is 'Micro-class homework is a form of homework which can effectively replace some of the traditional English homework.And it can improve students' interest in learning English,maintain and even enhance the students' English level without increasing the quantity of their homework'.This paper is divided into the following three parts:First,summarize and arrange the main concepts such as English homework,micro-class and micro-class homework by data studies from the current situation of English homework and the development of micro-class.For the primary school English homework problems,the possibility of substituting 'micro-class to some traditional English assignments' is verified by analyzing the advantages of the micro-class operation for English teaching.Then,inspired by the advanced educational theories such as Constructivism Learning Theory,the Zone of Proximal Development Theory,we can deduce the guiding principles and the design method of the English micro-class homework in primary schools from the common idea of the micro-class design and give the model designs of the micro-class homework.Finally,the experiment of the effect of micro-class homework was carried out between two parallel classes in Grade Four in D Primary School in Shanghai Pudong New Area.The author used micro-class homework as part of English homework in the experimental group and the traditional English homework in the control group.At last,the conclusion was drawn by comparing the feedback of the two groups in the classes,daily exercises,standardized test papers and students' and parents'questionnaire in an 18-week experiment.Through these studies,it is proved that under the guidance of contemporary education theory,the micro-class homework is a kind of homework which conforms to the intrinsic laws of English learning and it also can substitute some traditional English homework effectively.It can not only stimulate pupils' interest in learning English,improve their English learning effectiveness;but can also improve teachers'teaching ability and make better use of family function in students' English learning.
