The curriculum development of Chinese course in secondary vocational education is in essence a question of the direction in which the Chinese course in secondary vocational education is developing.It draws upon the curriculum standard set by the government or the institution,and is materialized in the teaching practice.Focusing on the syllabus of Chinese course in secondary vocational education,this study explores the governmental documents,which were associated with vocational education,in the late Qing dynasty,highlighting the curriculum development of Chinese course in secondary vocational education at its early stage.Meanwhile,this study compares the curriculum development of Chinese course in secondary vocational education with the syllabus of Chinese course in compulsory education,clarifying the seminaries and differences between them.Finally,this study will present a case study,investigating the characteristics of the process in which the Chinese course in secondary vocational education is connected with the other courses.By doing so,this study is going to highlight the diverse development of Chinese course in secondary vocational education,and argue that it also contains such characteristics as its focus on the application of language and characters,its basis on the cultivation of Chinese language capability,and its connection to vocational education,employment,and entrepreneurship.
