With the arrival of the "internet plus education" era,microlecture came into being as the representative product of online education and got rapid development.China Microlecture Network,which is conducted by the education administration center of the Ministry of Education,has held three Chinese microlecture competitions and has collected more than 100 thousand excellent microlecture works covering all of the subjects in elementary and secondary school.However,there are not many works from those teachers in Xinjiang and only few microlecture is created by English teacher in senior high school.In order to have a better understanding of the present situation of English microlecture in Xinjiang,the research investigated the ability of design and development microlecture for senior high school English teachers and explored the challenges in the process as well as provided some solutions.In the research,a total of 120 English teachers from Bole senior high school,Kuitun No.1 senior high school,Dushanzi No.2 middle school,Karamy senior high school and Shawan No.1 middle school responded to a Likert scale questionnaire on the teachers'ability of design and development of microlecture.Designed and developed by Zhang Yichun(2016:272-273),the questionnaire is made up of five dimensions:the conceptual cognition ability of microlecture,the design and preparation ability of microlecture,the shooting and recording ability of microlecture,the development ability of microlecture and the pedagogical practice ability of microlecture.By analyzing the mean,the standard deviation,the variance and the mode of the survey data,the research investigated the ability of design and development of microlecture with the aid of the interview.The survey results indicate that the teachers don't know a lot about the essence of microlecture and their entire understanding of microlecture is still at a low level and needs to be further improved.There are still some problems existing in the process of design and development of microlecture and technical factor is the key problem to hold back the development of microlecture for those English teachers in senior high school.Based on the results of the investigation,a model for the design and development of microlecture was developed with the aid of the design research.The model guided the design and development of microlecture in senior high school from three parts:the preliminary analysis,the design of microlecture and the development of microlecture.Meanwhile,under the direction of the model,three grammar microlecture works of different types were developed as examples for the design and development of grammar microlecture in senior high school.The microlecture works have been uploaded to China Microlecture Network and the readers can scan the QR code in the paper to watch the microlecture online.The study investigated the current situation of English microlecture in senior high school of Xinjiang and formed the model for the design and development of grammar microlecture as well as developed three different kinds of microlecture works.The author hopes that the research could provide some beneficial inspiration for the design and development of microlecture to those English teachers in senior high school.
