The development of Department of Education in our country has existed for more than a hundred years,and the disciplinary system is becoming more and more mature.Now,facing a new era,the development of the education subject has new challenges.As the material carrier of education,the education department is the entry point for the development and reform of education.Hunan University is the transformation of our academy system to modern university,and a typical representative of the transition from ancient higher education to modern education,as the cradle of Hunan talents,the development of its education department has important status and high research value in the history of education in China.According to its development process,the author divides the development of the Department of Education of Hunan University into the following four stages:the embryonic stage of the Department of Education(1912-1926),the Department of Education(1926-1937),the Department of Philosophy Education,the Department of Philosophy and Psychology(1938-1941);Department of Education in the People's Hunan university(1949-1953).According to the analysis of the historical situation of each stage,it is found that the development of the Department of Education in Hunan University has the following characteristics:training objectives to focus on social needs;curriculum provision includes arts and science,combination of theory and practice,elective system and the credit system in parallel;The teachers are mainly foreign students,experienced teachers;less students,the main industry is education industry of students employment;teaching management strictly,but focus on the overall development of students..The enlightenment of above historical experience on the development of the Department of Education Department is:the Department of Education in the training objectives should be with time to move;set courses and specialty flexible;the development of teacher is focus on compatibility,student training is focus on comprehensive development.At the same time,according to the development thinking of the Department of Education Department in Hunan University,reach a conclusion that the future Education Department of China should focus on the following work in the development:First,attach importance to the impact of government policy;Second,to enhance self-awareness of the discipline;Third,emphasize the innovation of curriculum provision;the fourth is to establish the concept of two functions integration about the Department of Education Department.
