Middle school physical education is the basis of physical education,which plays a very important role in the development of middle school students' physical quality improvement.Middle school PE teachers are the pioneers of basic physical education in China,they also shoulder the important mission in cultivating the students' overall quality.To improve middle school PE teachers' occupational ability is not only to create conditions for the healthy development of sports education,but also to build the foundation for the reform of basic education.According to "Jiangsu Province primary and secondary school physical education teachers' occupational skill standard(Trial)" we investigated and analysised middle school PE Teachers' occupational skill status of Huaiyin district,we found that there were some problems.Then we tried to find out the countermeasures to the problems we found in order to make contribution for advancing the vocational skill of middle school teachers in Huaiyin District.The conclusions obtained in the study are as follows: 1.The overall vocational skills of middle school PE teachers in Huaiyin district are above middle level;the teachers in urban areas are at excellent level and the rural teachers are relatively general.2.The teaching implementation ability of rural sports teachers in Huaiyin is significantly lower than those in urban areas.3.The teaching implementation,physical health management,core sports technology,teaching research and information technology skills of PE teachers in Huaiyin district are relatively inadequate.4.The teaching research and information technology skills of middle school PE teachers in Huaiyin urban area are relatively poor than others.5.The middle school PE teachers are good at teaching design and extracurricular exercise organization skills in Huaiyin district.Countermeasures are as follows: 1.The whole society should pay more attention to PE Teaching in middle school.2.Schools should pay more attention to the management and training of PE teachers.3.The competent education authorities shall distribute the sports education resources fairly and standardize the sports education evaluation mechanism.4.The government should improve educational policy formulation and further increase physical education financial investment in middle schools.5.Establishing and improving PE teachers' training mechanism based on the "lesson study" model.
