With the development of cooperation and communication with the western countries in the world,English,as the international language,is becoming more and more important.So as the the basic skills of communication,there is no doubt that English listening is very important.In the college entrance examinations,English listening is of 30 scores,which is one fifth of the total scores.Therefore,how to offer students effective listening teaching in high school has become an important question for teachers to think about.This research is based on Constructivism and cooperative learning theory.The related researches at home and abroad also enrich the theoretical framework on how to teach English Listening with the Help of English Movies in Senior High Schools.It is shown in the research that,with the help of English movie,listening teaching is lively and interesting,which can arouse students' interest in listening learning and enhance students' understanding of the culture of English speaking countries.Therefore,this is a good English listening teaching method.In practice,two rounds of action studies on how to apply English movies to high school English listening teaching are conducted in a Senior High school in Sichuan over a period of 7 months.The action research centers on the following three research issues.(1)It focuses on the use of auxiliary teaching in English movies in English Teaching in senior middle school.(2)It researches into the effects that English film assisted listening teaching has on the English Listening Learning Motivation among senior high school students.(3)It centers on the effects that English film assisted listening teaching has on listening scores among senior high school students.After two rounds of action research,we found that students' English listening learning motivation has been enhanced and their English listening performance has been improved through questionnaires,listening test and data acquisition.After two rounds of action research,we conducted a questionnaire survey of students.From the results of the questionnaire survey,the students' English listening learning motivation has been enhanced.From the listening tests carried out once a month,we selected two listening comprehension tests which is of the highest reliability and validity.From the results of the analysis,the students' listening comprehension scores get improved after 7 months of action research.The results of this action study have proved that teaching English listening with English movies in senior high school is an effective teaching method which is worthy of being taken and trusted.Finally,we analyze the issues that need reflecting and adjusting in the action research to provide references for other relevant researches,and summarize the results of our study.
