The 21 st century is the era of innovation and the age of information explosion.Critical thinking is regarded as the core competence and basic ability that people should have in the 21 st century.The educational circles around the world pay great attention to the cultivation of students' critical thinking.However,Chinese school education is lacking in students' critical thinking teaching.In particular,basic education stage is an important period of students' emotion,attitude and values.The process of learning English language is also the process of thinking and culture carried by English language.In the face of Chinese and western cultural differences,it is no doubt that critical thinking is needed to play a role in what we learn and identify,discard and carry forward,and what cultural position and attitude we form.As an important part of the core quality of English discipline,critical thinking is becoming more and more important to English education workers.The author investigated by means of questionnaire and interview and analyze combined with teaching experience to find that at present,there are many problems in the cultivation of critical thinking in primary school English teaching: Primary school English teachers are not enough to cultivate students' critical thinking mode;English teaching should focus on the cultivation of students' critical thinking,but it is not reflected in the setting of teaching objectives;The content of the textbook is suitable for the cultivation of students' critical thinking,which is not much,and the limited content can't be explored and utilized effectively;The teaching method and education evaluation used by teachers in primary school English teaching are not conducive to the cultivation of students' critical thinking,etc.Based on her own experience,the author carefully analyzes the questionnaire data and interview records,studies the causes of these problems,and finds targeted countermeasures.The author finds that there are many reasons for these problems.It is influenced by the concept and ability of primary school English teachers,as well as the constraints and influences of teaching objectives,content,methods and evaluation.According to the research,the use of education in primary school to better enable students to develop critical thinking should be reformed from the following aspects: Strengthen teachers' training,change their concept,improve their related ability;Optimize theEnglish teaching target of primary school,and implement the education of students' thinking mode steadily in class;Make full use of the differences between Chinese and western cultures,dig deep into the teaching contents that can be used in teaching materials,and introduce appropriate graded books and other picture books;Change the teaching method,adopt the way of asking and questioning,raise the question deeply,raise the open question,arouse the problem consciousness and deep thinking;Let students learn to respect dissent and insist on their own opinions in the discussion and debate,and learn to express their opinions reasonably;The construction of evaluation system should be on the basis of improving the elementary student's critical thinking ability,especially in all kinds of exams,the examination content must be reformed as the examining content of this kind of thinking is relatively less;In class,teachers should use the evaluation method and evaluation language which is beneficial to the development of students' critical thinking,and gradually improve their critical thinking.
