At present,there are nearly ten different versions of mathematics textbooks in China.These teaching materials all embody the concept of “The Standard of the Full-time Compulsory Education on Mathematics Curriculum” and their basic contents are the same.Different editors have different understandings of the “The Standard of the Full-time Compulsory Education on Mathematics Curriculum”,so their ideas and ways for constructing the teaching materials are different,which makes various textbooks present different characteristics in terms of content presentation and sequence.This thesis compares the two versions of the teaching materials of the “PEP” and “Beijing Normal University Edition”.It is hoped that teachers can have a good grasp of the teaching materials as a whole and can use the curriculum resources rationally.This thesis selects 2013 “PEP” and “Beijing Normal University Edition” teaching materials about related contents of parallelogram as research subjects.the two versions of the textbooks are compared longitudinally and laterally from the four dimensions containing the content structure,introduction,inquiry activities,and exercises by the literature analysis,comparative analysis and statistical methods.This paper makes a lateral comparison of the two editions of “PEP” and “Beijing Normal University Edition” from the three perspectives: introduction,inquiry activities and exercises.Judging from the way of introduction and learning the natures of parallelograms and special parallelograms and the determination of squares in the first section,the second section and the third section,the two versions of the textbooks introduce new lessons from examples in life.However,in the third section,the introductions of these two versions textbooks are various during learning the judgments of parallelograms,rectangles,and diamonds.“PEP” textbooks all start with the nature to research relevant judgments and “BNU” version of the textbooks follows the way of learning parallelogram nature through life examples and exploration activities to introduce parallelograms and rectangular judgments.Starting from the definition of diamonds is to learn the decision of diamonds.From the perspective of inquiry activities,the two versions textbooks have designed exploration activities such as identification,experimentation,drawing,folding,scrambling,discussion,classification,and translation for parallelograms and related content.Nevertheless,there are some differences in the activities of each segment.In the first session,the “PEP” textbook has more activities to assemble and discuss and less classifying activities than the “Beijing Normal University Edition” textbook.In the second section of the study,the “PEP” textbook has more scribbles and experiments and less identifying activities than the “Beijing Normal University” textbook.In the third session,the “PEP” teaching material is more analogous and has less observation activities than the “Beijing Normal University Edition” teaching material.From the exercise point ofview,the result of the overall comparison is that there are more exercises for the “PEP” than for the “Beijing Normal University Edition”,but there are differences in the arrangement of exercises for each session.In the first and second sessions,the number of exercises in “PEP”textbooks is more than the version of Beijing Normal University,and the number of exercises after a case is less than the version of Beijing Normal University.But the post-curricular exercises are the opposite.In the third segment,the number of exercises in Beijing Normal University edition is significantly lower than the number of exercises in the “PEP”.Although the exercises in the “Beijing Normal University” textbook are less than those in the “PEP”textbook,there are more exercises after class and unit review exercises.Longitudinal studies find out that both versions of teaching materials arrange parallelograms and related contents in three stages.In the first stage,a preliminary understanding of parallelograms is organized.In the second session,the “PEP” textbooks compile a further understanding of the parallelogram.In the grade three of junior middle school,the parallelogram is re-arranged,which includes the learning of the nature and judgment of parallelograms.For the arrangement of special parallelograms such as squares,rectangles and diamonds,there are differences between the two versions of the teaching materials.Through a preliminary understanding of squares and rectangles and further study,the “PEP” textbooks arrange them in the grade one and grade three books respectively for primary school,and “Beijing Normal University Edition” teaching materials about parallelograms' contents are arranged in the first volume of mathematics textbooks for grade one students and the second volume of mathematics textbooks for grade two students in primary school.Both versions of teaching materials make up the nature and judgment of parallelograms in the second volume of grade eight mathematics textbooks.However,the“PEP” textbooks edit the nature and the judgment of a special parallelogram and those of parallelograms in the same chapter.The “Beijing Normal University Edition” textbooks present the special parallelograms in the first volume of the grade nine textbooks.Their time span is inconsistent.
