Wuyi county is one of the national key poverty-stricken counties.Due to the impact of economic development,teaching facilities and teaching concepts,the rural education development is relatively backward,especially English teaching.The phenomenon of students with English learning difficulties exists in English teaching.The students with English learning difficulties are the students who have the normal intelligence and healthy body,but it is difficult for them to complete the English learning tasks because of different kinds of reasons.Their performance are lower than the basic requirement prescribed by the English syllabus and they can not reach the average grades of the whole class in all kinds of exams,but these students can be changed into good students through targeted education.The problem of the students with English learning difficulties not only affects their own study,but also puts a limit on the development of the rural education.The writer is an English teacher in Zhaoqiao junior high school of Wuyi county.In the teaching practice,the number of students with English learning difficulties increases with grade levels.The writer also has been thinking about the above questions.Therefore,the writer studies the causes and finds out the measures to reduce the number of the students with English learning difficulties to provide guidance for the English teaching work in the future.In order to find out the causes and the measures,based on the related researches in China and abroad,questionnaire and interview have been adopted in this paper.According to the questionnaire data of the teachers,parents and students with English learning difficulties and the targeted interviews of the teachers,parents and some students with English learning difficulties,the writer finds out the internal causes and external causes.On the one hand,as far as the external factors are concerned,it results from the school's and family's factors.On the other hand,from the students' own factors,the students with English learning difficulties are often not interested in learning English,unaware of how to learn or make some negative attributions to English learning.The analysis can lay a foundation for the measures to solve the problem of the students with English learning difficulties in the two schools.The writer puts forward the measures to reduce the number of the students with English learning difficulties from the following aspects.First,teachers can improve their own professional level in teaching.(1)Strengthening the teaching design research.(2)Establishing the harmonious relationship between teachers and students.Second,teachers can help cultivate students' non-intellectual factors.(1)Stimulating students' interest in learning English.(2)Stimulating students' motivation to learn English.(3)Developing students' willpower.(4)Strengthening the guidance of learning methods.(5)Strengthening the guidance of correct attribution.Third,teachers should promote the hierarchical teaching based on the students' differences.Fourth,parents also play a very important role in influencing on students,so teachers can promote parents to participate in their children' education.In the writer's opinion,the study can provide certain scientific theoretical basis for teachers who are doing the relative study in rural areas and it also can change the condition of some students with English learning difficulties and help them learn English efficiently and improve their English grades.
