It's an important topic for the teachers in the school for deaf-mutes that the hearing-impaired students' reading ability were very poor.the low frequency to contact with language materials and the less strengthen for the studied lexicons made the present teaching situation unsatisfactory.The period in junior middle school was quite important for hearing-impaired students,as the more and harder of reading materials,the reading for hearing-impaired students became more and more difficulty.In this case,this paper research on some teachers and students of Xinyang special education school around the current reading situation in questionnaire survey and interview methods.The less interests for reading and fear of difficulty made the poor reading ability of the hearing-impaired students though the statistical collected and analyses.Three parts were divided for this paper.The related concepts were defined and the research present situation at home and abroad were discussed in the first part,the research objects,methods and process were introduced also.The reading proficiency of junior hearing-impaired students in Xinyang were reflected through questionnaire survey and statistical analyses,the factors that had an affect on reading ability were deeply discussed.The current situation survey and analysis of junior hearing-impaired students--problem-finding and analysis.The countermeasures and suggestions were raised in the second part.The reading ability of junior hearing-impaired students be understood correctly;the appropriate reading strategies be chosen;the efficient communication means be adopted;the cultivated of comprehension ability be emphases;the emotional experience be strengthened;the environment of family-of-origin be improved;the students be encouraged.The suggestions for junior hearing-impaired students to improve reading ability--problem solved.The practical research were put into the third part.The suggestions were validated by intervention case study.The reading intervention case of junior hearing-impaired students--practice test.This paper revealed the current reading situation of hearing-impaired students though documentary method,questionnaire survey;interviewing;intervention case and so on,the key factors that had an affect on reading ability of junior hearing-impaired students be focused,even more,the improvement strategies were raised to help the students improve their reading ability,make the reading situation much better.
