Research On The Social Integration Of Shanghai Immigrants From The Perspective Of Social Capital Theory

With the development of economy and society,the number of immigrants in Shanghai is still high.At present,the permanent resident population in Shanghai has accounted for two-fifths of the resident population in Shanghai.Their integration into society has drawn wide attention from scholars.This study uses a qualitative method to interview 13 people in Shanghai for semi-structured interviews,analyzes the development trend of social integration,summarizes the types of social integration process,and shows the dynamic process of social integration of the group.Analyzes the role of social capital in the process of social integration of personnel in Shanghai and provides suggestions for the intervention of social work services.The study found that most of the immigrants in Shanghai are at a moderate level of social inclusion,and very few are well or poorly integrated.Integration process is divided into initial stage,the development stage,the turning point and the present stage of the four main stages.Some of the respondents had a slow development process and no turning point.The social integration process of Shanghai immigrants mainly includes five types:high-low slow integration type,high-high change integration type,low-low slow integration type,low-high slow integration type and low-high change integration type.The differences in the ownership of the subjective social capital,regional social capital,conditional social capital and potential social capital of Shanghai immigrants at different stages of their development exert different influences on their social integration.The more smoothly the social capital is,the smoother the integration process will be.Based on this,this study proposes some suggestions to promote the social integration of Shanghai immigrants from the perspective of social capital theory,including strengthening the capacity building of Shanghai immigrants,optimizing the policy system of reform and providing diversified services.
