Since China has entered an aging society,the research on elderly care has gradually shifted from material to spiritual level.As there is great heterogeneity in the aged group,the elderly care for old people of different ages,sexes,educational or occupational backgrounds may face different problems,this leads to many problems of various types and generates elder care needs on the spiritual level such as cultural needs,educational needs and self-worth and social value needs.If these needs of old people fail to be met in their retired life,they will be trapped in an adaptive dilemma.In response to the spiritual and cultural needs and adaptive dilemma of retired old people,the university for aged that rely on traditional resources of higher education have emerged.Through a literature review of previous studies,this researcher discovers that these researchers ignored the cultural and educational demands of the retired old people with good working and educational background.Against this background,with the E university for aged as the case,this paper conducts thorough interviews and investigations to explore the operating mechanism of the university for aged,find out the relationship between the University for the Aged and the social adaptability of retired old people and predict the effects that are likely to be achieved by them.According to the results of the interview,this research divides acquired knowledge into three levels,namely,K(Knowledge),S(Skill)and A(Attitude)to explore the visible positive function and influence of the university for aged for retired old people;Social network construction refers to the long-term hardly visible effect on retired old people,which,specifically speaking,is the active construction and influence of social network and social support;in the last part,the author concludes that the university for aged should take advantage of their manifest function and latent functions for the subject-reconstruction of the social adaptability of retired old people to achieve the goal of positive and healthy aging.
