A large number of experiments were required for specialized courses of each student in various universities of institutions.C urrently,those experiments are operated in laboratories with real existed experimental equipment.However,this method render disadvantages in safety concern,economic concern and convenience concern.Hence,how to improve this situation has significant meaning for education.Up until now,Virtual Reality(VR)is developing in an increased speed,VR has been widely adopted in military and economy field,but it was never used for heating and ventilation research.This paper proposed a 3D and simulated experimental environment for learners to interact in real time,in this way,it will be easier for learners to understand the principles and methods to air conditioning's air volume balance.Based on a project related to 3D simulation system for air volume balance using OpenGL,this paper first gave a detailed analysis on key techniques adopted in this paper.Those techniques included methods used to build a 3D model and methods that used for OpenGL to load a model,methods used in interaction between models and users,and algorithms used for improving the user experience.Then,this paper gave a thorough requirement analysis for the 3D simulation system for air volume balance.Based on this requirement analysis,four functional modules for the whole system were designed and implemented.Those modules were module used for viewing equipment,which would be presented in 3D for experiments(specifically in this paper the equipment would be air-conditioning system),and module used for simulating experiment data,module used for viewing air-conditioning unit(the core structure for an air-conditioning),module used for control the interactive actions between users and this system.In the last,all function modules were implemented for this 3D simulation system for air volume balance,and each function was verified,the quality of this system satisfied the requirements in a real situation.After students in HVAC major used this system,their efficiency of understanding air volume balance has been improved,and consumptions for air conditioning system and operating maintenance has been reduced.
